Local leaders and industry experts gathered to discuss the past, present, and future of Delaware’s Real Estate Market

Dover, Del. October 3, 2024 – Over 150 real estate agents, investors, and enthusiasts participated in the Delaware Real Estate Summit at Bally’s Resort and Casino in Dover. The summit was hosted by the Delaware Association of REALTORS® (DAR), the Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBADE), and the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA).

“As we gather at the Delaware Real Estate Summit, we have a unique opportunity to learn from each other and discuss the pressing issues of affordability and attainability that our communities face,” said Mike Riemann, President of HBADE. “Together, we can harness the lessons of the past and the insights of the present to pave the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future in residential real estate.”

The day-long event featured influential speakers and subject matter experts who covered crucial lessons learned from the 2007/2008 financial crisis, current housing supply, affordability trends, and opportunities for new construction across the state. These insights are invaluable in shaping future strategies.

“To succeed in Delaware’s residential real estate market, you must have access to industry knowledge, shared insight, and recent data,” said DAR Chief Executive Officer Wesley Stefanick. “We’re proud to host this summit because it ensures our agents and partners are equipped to advocate for our members’ interests and the rights of all property owners.”

The summit served as a much-needed platform for discussion and strategy formulation. Many speakers and attendees raised the importance of land use, economic development, and affordable housing in addressing today’s complex real estate landscape and ensuring the foundation of Delaware’s neighborhoods and businesses remains robust and accessible for all residents.

“At the Delaware State Housing Authority, we are dedicated to empowering Delawareans with our range of homeownership programs and down payment assistance initiatives, making homeownership more attainable for everyone,” said Cynthia Karnai, Director of DSHA.

“By collaborating through our Affordable Housing Production Task Force, we are actively working to develop solutions that will increase housing availability throughout the State of Delaware.”

Attendees will continue the conversation and pursue professional development opportunities at the 60th Annual Delaware Association of REALTORS® Convention & Expo.
